10 Things Christians Need to Know about Trump's U.N. Address

There was polite applause as President Trump took the stage and began his address to the United Nations General Assembly, which is available to be viewed via a U.S. Department of State video.
“Thank you very much. I very much appreciate it,” Trump began, adding that, “And I don’t mind making this speech without a teleprompter because the teleprompter is not working.”
The crowd laughed as he gave a sly smile.
“I feel very happy to be up here with you, nevertheless,” he said, claiming that the non-functioning teleprompter would allow him to speak more from the heart.
He went on to joke that, “I can only say that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in big trouble.”
Another sly smile crossed his face as the crowd laughed. He shook his head, peered briefly to the right, and looked down at some papers on which he apparently had a chance to scribble some thoughts.

1. Peace and Prosperity Have Given Way to War
After polite greetings to various leaders, President Trump began by pointing out that in his first term, there was “prosperity and peace” in America. But since that time, he lamented, “The guns of war have shattered the peace I forged on two continents. An era of calm and stability gave way to one of the great crises of our time.”
He went on to claim that the previous administration ushered in “weakness, lawlessness, and radicalization [that] delivered our nation into a repeated set of disasters.”
2. Trump Details America’s Return to Prosperity Under His Administration
“Today, just eight months into my administration, we’re the hottest country anywhere in the world, and there is no other country even close. America is blessed with the strongest economy, the strongest borders, the strongest military, the strongest friendships, and the strongest spirit of any nation on the face of the earth. This is indeed the golden age of America,” he said.
He went on to detail how the impact of the previous administration was in the process of being reversed, “including ruinous price increases and record-setting inflation, inflation like we’ve never had before.

3. Trump Claims Many Costs are Down Under His Leadership
Trump said that his leadership has brought about lower energy, gas, grocery, and home prices, and that inflation is “defeated.” He claimed that the only thing that’s up right now is the stock market, which hit a record high “48 times in the last short period of time.” He also claimed that growth is surging, manufacturing is booming, and workers' wages are rising at the fastest pace in more than 60 years.
Along with lower costs, Trump told the assembly that the U.S. has implemented the largest tax cuts and regulation cuts in history, that many of the people in that room are investing in America, and that it’s “turned out to be a pretty good investment over this eight-month period.”
4. Border Security
The southern border has been a perilous place to be in the recent past because dangerous people, such as drug dealers and escapees from prisons and mental institutions, were pouring in as a result of the Biden Administration’s open border policy. Trump said that since he’s been in office, the border has been secured. In addition, for the last four months in a row, the number of illegal aliens admitted and entering the United States “has been zero.”

5. Brought an End to Several Wars
Trump named seven wars that he said he brought to an end during his second term of his presidency. Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, The Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, and Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“No president or prime minister, and for that matter, no other country has ever done anything close to that, and I did it in just seven months. That’s never happened before; there’s never been anything like it. I’m very honored to have done it. It’s too bad that I had to do these things instead of the United Nations doing them. And sadly, in all cases, the United Nations did not even try to help in any way for any of them!” He said.
6. Trump Questions the Purpose of the United Nations
Trump claimed the U.N. never contacted him to offer to help finalize any of the deals for the peace treaties he brokered, which he said hadn’t occurred to him at that time. That realization came later.
“The United Nations wasn’t there for us. They weren’t there!... That being the case, what is the purpose of the United Nations? The U.N. has such tremendous potential…but it’s not even coming close to living up to that potential…it seems all they really do is write a really strongly worded letter, and then never follow up. It’s empty words, and empty words don’t solve war. The only thing that solves war and wars is action,”
He also spoke of the role he played in negotiating the Abraham Accords, and how some people had said he should get a Nobel Peace Prize for that.
“What I care about is not winning prizes, but saving lives, and we saved millions of lives by bringing an end to those seven wars. And we have others that we’re working on, and you know that.”
He went on to talk about the importance of the U.N. working together and “rejecting the failed approaches of the past, and working together to confront some of the greatest threats in history.”

7. Recognition of a Palestinian State Is a Wrong Move
He brought up the atrocity of October 7, 2023, and the efforts that some in the U.N. are making to recognize a Palestinian state.
“The rewards would be too great for Hamas terrorists for their atrocities. This [Palestinian State] would be a reward for these horrible atrocities,” he said. “Including October 7, even while they refused to release the hostages or accept a ceasefire.”
He said instead of giving anything more to Hamas, there needs to be a unified message to release all of the hostages now.
8. Russia-Ukraine War
Trump admitted that he initially thought this war would be the easiest one to stop, but he was surprised to find out that this was not the case. He’s convinced it never would have happened if he had been president at the time the aggression began. He declared China and India to be the primary funders of this war because they continue to buy oil from Russia. He also admonished the U.N. countries that are still purchasing Russian oil and energy products. He claimed to have some very strong tariffs in mind to place on Russia to stop their aggression, but in order for those to be effective, all European countries would need to agree to impose the same tariffs on Russia.

9. Trump Called for an End to the Development of Biological and Nuclear Warfare Weapons
Trump called on every nation present to join the United States in putting an end to the development of biological and nuclear weapons. He claimed that such weapons are so powerful that if they are ever used, the world might literally come to an end. He hinted that COVID was the result of biological weapons experiments, yet countries are still working on developing such weapons. He said his administration would lead the way for the development of an AI system to help prevent such developments, and it would be a system that everyone can trust.
10. Uncontrolled Migration
“Your countries are being ruined!” Trump insisted and went on to talk about how the United Nations is “funding an assault on Western countries and their borders. In 2024, the U.N. budgeted $372 million dollars in cash assistance to support an estimated 624 thousand migrants journeying into the United States…the U.N. also provided food, shelter, transportation, and debit cards to illegal aliens.” He went on to note that they were transported over the southern border, and none of them were vetted to see if they had a criminal history or connections to terrorist organizations.
“But what took place is unacceptable. The U.N. is supposed to stop invasions, not create them,” he said.
He went on to insist that “America belongs to the American people, and I encourage all countries to take their own stand in defense of their citizens as well.”
He admonished those who aren’t taking action against uncontrolled migration, saying, “Your countries are going to hell!” He insisted that their lack of action would cause their countries to be destroyed and their citizens to be fearful, harmed, or even murdered.
